The Characteristics of Cai Yuanpei's Educational Thoughts

蔡元培是我国现代大学教育理念的奠基者。他强调大学是研究高深学问的地方,强调大学应当由学术大师引领学术,强调学术争鸣对学术发展有重要意义。他认为根据中国的特点,大学教育要以通识教育为基础,以美育为净化心灵的主要途径,以体育、智育、德育、世界观教育和美育之五育并举为方针,以培育一种完全的人格为目标。蔡元培的教育思想蕴含着持久的魅力,在今天更显其意义。

Being a founder of the educational idea of China＇s modem university, Cai Yuanpei stressed that university should study on the Profound Knowledge and is leaded by academic masters, and academic contending has an important significance for academic development. He believed that based on general education, higher education should take aesthetic education as the main approach of purifying mind and take physical education, intellectual education, moral education and aesthetic education as educational policy so as to train the all-round development educated. Cai Yuanpei＇s educational thought has still a lasting significance today.
