Sympatric species, rhesus monkey, Macaca mulatta and stump-tailed macaque, Macace arctoides captured from the wild of western Yunnan of China, show quan titative differences in their use of locomotor patterns during dialy activities. Stumptailed macaque moves primarily terrestrial quadruped. In contrast, rhesus monkey, based on their relative longer caudal scapula, more developed glenoid cavity and greater humerus head, spends more time to move in the tree. Comparison of the length of the glenoid cavity, length of the vertebral border, distance between the cranial tip of the glenoid and the inferior angle, length of the spine, greater and lesser heads of the humerus, and distance between the tip of the acromion and the inferior angle show numerious statistically significant differences between the two species. The results coming from PCA represent that the sequence of the discriminators are: length of the axillary border>distance between cranial tip of the glenoid and the inferior angle>length of the vertebral border or width of the scapula>distance between the tip of the acromion and the inferior angle>length of the spine.
