平面化是新生代小说进行后现代叙事的主要手段之一。新生代小说通过采用空间化的叙事模式和观光者的叙事姿态,解构了20世纪中国文学史上的若干深度模式,使得新生代小说消解了物理深度和精神深度,也使得新生代小说中塑造的人物都成为"内在的流浪汉"。平面化写作导致新生代小说中的意义缺失与道德缺席,对新生代小说的未来发展有着重要影响。

Flat delineation and representation is one of the key approaches to the postmodernist narratire in novels of new-generation writers. By means of the spatialized narrative mode and the narrative stance of tourists, novels of new-generation writers have deconstructed some conventional narrative mode in the his- tory of Chinese literature and have thus dissolved the physical and spiritual depth, thereby having turned fig- ures delineated into ＂intrinsic tramps. ＂ The literary writing in a flat manner, which has caused the shortage of significance and morality in novels of new-generation writers, has exerted a vital impact on the prospective development of novels of new-generation writers.
