短盖巨脂鲤骨骼系统有以下特点：脑颅较短宽；中筛骨和侧筛骨发达；嗅伸经孔较大，被中筛骨和侧筛骨包围；脑囱长而宽，自中筛骨后方向后延伸至顶骨，中间有一横骨将它分为额囱和顶囱；眶下骨８块，第一块泪骨很小；上枕棘粗壮；后颞窝大而深；肩带有上颞骨、后颞骨，而上匙骨和后匙骨各为两块．

This paper presents a morphological description of the skeleton of Colossoma brychypomum,the mesethmoid and lateral ethmoid are welldeveloped, cranial fontalel is large and divided into frontal fontanel and parietal fontanel by epiphyseal bar, posttemporal fossa is large and deep, lachrymal is small, supratemporal, supracleithrum and postcleithrum have two parts, there is a foramen between the quadrate and metaperygoid,weberaian apparatus of Colossoma brychypomum is welldeveloped.
