GIS and Fractal Studies of Geographical Phenomena

论述了分形理论与ＧＩＳ（Ｇｅｏ－ＩｎｆｏｒｍａｔｉｏｎＳｙｓｔｅｍ）技术在地理研究中的应用．指出地理现象中存在着大量分形，需要运用分形几何进行研究，而研究地理分形又依赖于ＧＩＳ技术的支持，因此对ＧＩＳ提出新的技术开发要求．另外，借助分形几何重新建立纯数学与地理学的联系，最终可能实现地理语言与计算机语言的接口．

Fractal geometry has made a new approach for geographical studies. The fractal studies in geography need support from the technique of geographical information system and in turn promote transformations in the related technical realms. This paper discusses the application of fractal theory to geographical studies and GIS, and presents a number of tentative ideas about theoretical construction and technical innovation.
