The alkylation reactivity of calcined FeSiMCM41, LaSiMCM41 and AlSiMCM41, the impregnated samples Fe/SiMCM41, Fe/USY and Fe/KL, the Fe3+ cation exchanged samples eFeSiMCM41 and eFeUSY, and some other samples is investigated. The mesoporous molecular sieve materials FeSiMCM41, Fe/SiMCM41 as well as Fe/USY possessing secondary mesopores (~26 nm) all show very high activity at 60℃ for the test reaction between benzene and benzyl chloride with a selectivity of nearly 100%. Fe3+ cation exchanged samples eFeSiMCM41 and eFeUSY can both catalyze the above reaction, but demonstrate lower activity than those on Fe(Ⅲ) species deposited samples. The opening effect plays a critical role in the above reaction system for Fe/KL, which has a onedimensional channel structure similar to that of MCM41 samples, exhibits nearly no activity in this reaction, while Fe/USY takes longer reaction time to reach the equilibrium conversion than that for FeSiMCM41 and Fe/SiMCM41. Temperature greatly influences the activity of Fecontaining zeolite samples. After H+ is exchanged by Na+, the conversion of benzyl chloride on FeSiMCM41 is decreased, indicating H+ may enhance the activity of the Fe(Ⅲ) species deposited samples for the above reaction.
