On the Application of Functional Translation Theory in Legal Translation

结合法律语篇的特点,通过对法律翻译中法律对等标准和功能目的标准的研究,讨论法律对等标准实现的局限性和功能对等标准对于法律翻译实践的广泛指导作用,认为虽然法律文本具有许多不同于一般文本的特点,尤其是法律语篇的权威性使得法律对等的标准不能完全实现,功能目的标准是可行而有效的法律翻译指导原则。

This paper discusses the application of functional translation theory in legal translation through the study of the features of legal discourse and the theory of legal equivalence. It is concluded that in spite of the distinctive quality of legal discourse, which leads to insufficient realization of legal equivalence, the criteria of functionalism is an applicable and effective guiding principle for legal translation.
