In his first romantic play, Ibsen created a character of spirit rebel- Catiline. For his absurd act, Catiline had led to the death of a nun of the Kitchen Temple, thus caused a great evil. In the text, Ibsen described three images of the Kitchen Temple, the dream and the ghosting, creating a scene of illusory and real, which revealed the complex inner world of Catiline, and explored his sense of original sin and the desire of "self-liberation". They were related to Ibsen' s moral ideals closely, through which we can know that Ibsen' s "self-liberation" have a dual nature in fact.
