摘要
霍桑的《红字》历来被认为是美国文学史的经典之作,备受评论家和研究者们的关注。但有关《红字》叙事学方面的研究却甚少。本文运用叙事学的相关理论,从叙事聚焦角度对《红字》中的聚焦进行分析,阐述了霍桑对于不同人物采取聚焦方式不同及大量运用焦点转换的用意。
Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter regarded as the symbolic novel in American literature has always been paid much attention to by critics and researchers. However, narrates study on it is actually very few. In this thesis, the author, making use of some relevant narratology theories, analyzes The Scarlet Letter from narrative angle and expatiates that why Hawthorne adopted different types of focalization for different characters and the intention of using focalization conversion in great quantities.
