摘要
弗罗斯特被誉为美国的民族诗人,在中国也有着众多的读者。他的《帮工之死》解放前就被诗人方平介绍给国人。弗氏的一些抒情名篇,如《一条未走的路》和《雪夜林边驻》频频出现在英语专业教材和英语杂志中。20世纪末以来,国内对弗罗斯特的研究呈现出了蓬勃发展的趋势。目前已有两本研究专著问世,2002年还出版了曹明伦翻译的弗罗斯特诗歌全集,其中收录了弗氏的重要信件和散文作品。纵观国内对弗氏诗歌的研究,从最初单纯的主题研究发展到对其写作技巧的探讨,到现在的文化研究,深度和广度都令人欣喜。然而,弗氏诗歌内容和创作理论的丰富性还没有得到足够的重视。他的诗歌中地域性和普遍性的结合、传统与现代性的结合对于处在全球化挑战中的当代诗人仍然具有启发意义。
Honored as the national poet of the United States, Robert Frost is also well known in China. His ＂The Death of the Hired Man＂ was translated into Chinese by Fang Ping in 1948. The scholarship in Frost gained momentum towards the end of 20th century. Two monographs on Frost＇ s poetry have come out. Robert Frost ： Collected Poems, Prose ＆ Plays （ edited by Richard Poirier and Mark Richardson） saw its Chinese version in 2002. Frostian study in China has extended from thematic exploration to cultural study, with increasing numbers of critical articles on various aspects of Frost＇ s poems published. Nonetheless, the depth and richness of Frost＇ s poetry and poetics have not gained satisfactory attention. His combination of the provincial and the universal, tradition and modernity still speaks to contemporary poets faced with the challenge of globalization.
