A new method for the determination of precipitate by reflectance spectrometry is developed. The fundamental principle, the effect factors and experimental conditions of the method were discussed. It has been applied to the direct determination of Hg(Ⅱ ) in sewage and soil sample with satisfactory results. The method is simple and fast for direct determination of precipitate.
