This paper expounds the formation,evolution and the elementary structure of the Internet. Four essential services of the Internet are discussed.A basic engineering, idea to build an independent LAN, which accesses to and visits the Internet, is put forward on the basis of the geological prospecting team. Besides,the basic way to log in on the Internet with modem is introduced.
