当今工科数学教学已不适应社会日益数学化的需要，必须改革。改革的重要方向是把数学建模的思想、方法及内容融入到工科数学的教学中。结合实际着重论述了数学建模在工科数学素质教育中的作用主要是能培养学生多方面的能力。

To meet the needs of the society,the engineering maths education will be reformed,whose stress is laid on mixing the thought,method of and content of maths modelling with the engineering maths education. It is concluded that the maths modelling purpose in maths quality education is to develop the students all kinds of abilities.
