穰明德与川藏公路——怀念重庆交通大学创始人穰明德校长

RANG Ming-de and Sihuan-Xizang Road In Memory of the First President of Chongqing Jiaotong University

穰明德1931年参加红军,解放初担任川藏公路的政委,并创建了重庆交通大学的前身西南交通专科学校。川藏公路始建于1950年1月,建成于1954年12月。为了按时完成任务,穰明德与筑路人员同甘共苦,从部队政委迅速成为公路专家,克服各种艰难险阻,劈开悬崖峭壁,降服险川大河,创造了中国公路史乃至世界公路史上的奇迹。

RANG Ming - de took part in the Red Army in 1931. He held the post of the political commissar of Sichuan - Xizang Road in early liberation days. He established the Southwest Traffic Training School that was predecessor Chongqing Jiaotong University. Sichuan -Xizang Road was built from January, 1951 to February, 1954. To finish the project on time, RANG Mingde shared the sufferings with the builders. He soon became a road expert. They overcame kinds of hardships and dangers, and split sheer precipice and overhang rocks, and yielded dangerous rivers. They created miracle in the history of China road and the history of world road.
