小时候，我一直都认为能够帮助孩子制作松木赛车才能体现做父亲的价值，但是，我的看法可能是错误的。在我12岁的时候，我的父亲就去世了。因此，帮助我制作松木赛车成了他所面对的身为人父的最大的也是最后的考试。我非常清楚地记得父亲是如何通过他的制作松木赛车考试的，我也知道，早晚有一天我也不得不接受同样的考试。
I always thought Pinewood Derby cars defined your worth as a father, but my perspective may have been flawed. My father died when I was twelve, so the Pinewood Derby was one of the largest and last exams he faced. I remember with fondness how Dad passed his Pinewood Derby exam, and I knew that one day I＇d have to take that same test.
