The Cultural and Historical Origin of Dongyang Woodcarving

东阳木雕，浙江省传统工艺美术保护品种，首批国家级非物质文化遗产代表作。东阳木雕是国内主要木雕流派中唯一因地而名的流派，之所以因地而名，是因为东阳木雕独特的地域特色和艺术风格与东阳地域环境和民俗文化有着密不可分的历史渊源，是东阳“三乡”文化中互为因果的一个部分。

Dongyang woodcarving is the only school which named after its location among the main woodcarving schools in China by reason of its uniqut local features and artistic styles as well as the close relationship with its geographic environment and folk customs.Dongyang woodcarving is also part of the Sanxiang Culture in Dongyang and has a cause-and-effect relationship with it.
