Yao Mingda's Life and His Achievements in Philology

介绍中国近代目录学研究的奠基人之一姚名达的生平,他系统整理我国古代目录学遗产,开展目录学前瞻性研究,在目录学定义、功用、内容以及目录学与其他学科关系等一系列问题上,提出创建性的见解;其所著《目录学》、《中国目录学史》和《中国目录学年表》集中体现其目录学思想与成就。

Yao Mingda（1905-1942）, alias Daren and Xianwei as well, was burn in Xingguo, Jiangxi Province and one of the pioneers in Chinese modern Bibliography research. He made a systematic research into the Chinese ancient Bibliography, and devoted himself to considerable farsighted research in modem bibliography, putting forward a number of original viewpoints concerning the definition, function and content of Bibliography as well as its relations with other subjects. Among others, his Bibliography, Bibliography History of China, Chronology of Chinese Bibliography History are the very monumental works embodying his thoughts and achievements in Bibliography.
