Daisy in The Great Gatsby is always understood as the cause of Gatsby's failure. This essay attempts to argue, through the analysis of Daisy and her own story in the consumer society in accordance with Baudrillard's theory of consumerism, that she is, more victimized than a victimizing, a scapegoat of the male failure.
