A General View on the Relationship between Dialectics and Harmony

Contradiction is a central category in dialectics.Harmony is not non-contradiction,but a specific state of the mutual relation between two sides of contradiction,since it means the development of the two sides of contradiction is not in a state of mutually hampering,but of mutually motivating.This state can be realized under certain conditions.But,if we view Harmony and Contradiction as a pair of mutually exclusive concepts,and even claim a substitution of the Philosophy of Harmony for the Philosophy of Contradiction,we are cancelling Dialectics.The traditional Chinese philosophy is a very important thought resource for the development of Materialist Dialectics in China,but we should absorb it critically and give it a modern explanation rather than take it as a guiding thought for contemporary China.Though the prospect which the Philosophy of Peace and Harmony(He-he)depicts as the ideal is of illumination,it can not be an ultimate principle directing human practice,neither a so-called Universal Principle.
