卡扎菲夺取政权后,其"革命民族主义"是塑造利比亚民族国家形象最具影响力的一种政治力量,它对利比亚的现代化发展具有重大的促进作用。但不可否认的是,"革命民族主义"激情下的"伊斯兰社会主义"的构建在很大程度上是出于政治上的考虑,带有明显的"乌托邦"色彩,加之缺乏适宜的外部环境,导致了利比亚的国家现代化无法实现既定的目标,从而使"革命民族主义"主导思想陷入困境。伊拉克战争后,利比亚的现代化开始从激情四溢的"革命民族主义"向务实冷静的超越民族主义转型。

After Qadhafi seized the political power in Libya, revolutionary nationalism became the most influential force in shaping the nation - state and greatly promoted the state modernization process. However, it is undeniable that the building of Islam socialism under the passionate revolutionary nationalism is mostly out of political consideration, and both its obvious Utopian tendency and the lack of favorable external environment lead to the failure to realize the state modernization objectives and the predicament of revolutionary nationalism. After the Iraqi war, the state modernization in Libya began to transform from the passionate revolutionary nationalism to the practical and sober beyond nationalism.
