Regional Order in Southeast Asia during the Process of Power Transition:Roles of the United States,China and the Southeast Asian Countries

东南亚对于全球霸主美国和正在崛起的地区大国中国来说都是地缘战略地位十分重要的地区。美国在该地区有着经营了数十年的军事、政治和经济联系,而对于大部分东南亚国家而言,它们正享受着中国的持续快速发展所带来的地区繁荣与和平。美国近年来对东南亚的关注度下降,中国却以一种战略眼光来规划与东南亚国家的关系,中美之间在东南亚正处于权力转移的过程中。这种权力关系的变化深刻影响着东南亚地区秩序的构建。

The Southeast Asia holds a very important geopolitical significance for both the U.S.,as a global hegemony,and China,as a rising regional power. While America has decades-long military,political and economic relations with this region,for most Southeast Asian countries,the sustainable and rapid economic growth of China is a bliss for regional prosperity and peace. In recent years,the U.S.,preoccupied with Iraq and Afghanistan,has paid less attention to this region. Meanwhile,China treats its relations with Southeast Asian neighbors from a strategic viewpoint. As a result,China and the United States are,to some extent,in the process of power transition in Southeast Asia,which will greatly affect the construction of regional order.
