A Review and Analysis of the U.S. DOD’s "Military Power of China,2009"

美国国防部发布的“中国军力报告”既是美国对中国军力的认知反应，也是美国拟定对华政策的重要参考依据。《2009中国军力报告》总体上缺乏新意，一方面反映奥巴马政府对华战略尚处于构建阶段，预示其将延续前任政府的对华政策；另一方面也表明中美关系的发展将处于相对稳定状态。然而，就报告出台的背景及报告本身的权威性而言，仍值得关注。

The 'Military Power of China, 2009'published by the U.S.Department of Defense(DOD), is not only a response of the U.S.cognition of the Chinese military strength, but also an important reference basis for drawing up the U.S.China policy.Generally speaking, the report is in want of new and fresh conceptions.On the one hand, it reflects the fact that the U.S.strategy for China is still at the build-up stage, and the China policy of the previous Administration is expected to be followed by the new Administration.On the other hand, it also indicates hat the development of China-U.S.relations will be in a state of relative stability.However, it still deserves our attention as far as the background of the report's appearance and the authoritativeness of the report itself are concerned.
