在14世纪中期以后的150多年里,具有明显头韵体特点的英语诗歌又突然繁荣,产生了大量作品,取得了杰出成就,是14世纪中古英语文学大繁荣极为重要的组成。头韵体诗歌复兴是在新的历史时期,顺应时代需要,运用英格兰本土文学传统来复兴和发展能表达英格兰民族意识和民族要求的诗歌运动。

In the 150 years after the mid-fourteenth century, alliterative English poetry again flourished and produced many high-quality works. It was at the heart of Middle English literary prosperity. Alliterative Revival was a poetic movement that revived native English poetic tradition to meet the need of a new historical time when the English nation was taking shape and to develop a national literature to express the English national consciousness.
