Susan Glaspell, a famous American woman playwright, probes into the problem of gender-related difference in her one-act play, Trifles. In the play, Glaspell makes a vivid representation of differences in the male's and the female's conversational behavior, which reveals the drawbacks of the male's “report talk” and the merits of the female's “rapport talk”, subverting the traditional way of debasing the female “saying”.
