根据模因论,粤语通过被模仿而复制成为普通话,就成为了"粤语模因"。语言模因的复制传播包括"同义异形"的基因型传播和"同形异义"的表现型两种方式,粤方言词"埋单"在演变成普通话"买单"的过程中就先后经历了这两种方式的传播,复制传播的原因,主要来自人们模仿"埋单"的心理动机。享受"戏拟"的乐趣以及求新脱俗、追求时尚的社会心理都促进了语言模因的复制和传播。
According to the theory of memetics, any Cantonese word or sentence becomes a meme once it has been replicated into Mandarin Chinese through imitation. There are two ways for language memes to be replicated and transmitted. One is of genotype, i.e. the same core content being inherited in various forms, and the other is of phenotype, i.e. the identical set pattern being followed by different contents. Both ways have been successively experienced during the replication and transmission of Cantonese word "mai dan" meaning "paying the bill" into Mandarin Chinese. People' s psychological motive of imitation serves as the most important factor that facilitate the replication and transmission of this Cantonese meme, which include the enjoyment of "parody" and the social psychology of pursuing the novelty and fashion.
