Objective To explore the effects of low- level Pb exposure during pregnancy on neuro- behavioral development of infants. Methods Forty infants were selected and their mother' s blood Pb levels in pregnant in second trimester were determined in 2006 - 2007. The neuro - bebavioral cognitive performance of infants were evaluated by Neonatal Behavioral Neurological Assessment(NABA). Related analysis were made with blood lead level and nearo- behavioral development scores with pregnancy, by the Pb lead levels of O. 28μmol/L, 0. 32μmol/L, 0.38μmol/L as cutoff values, they were divided into high and low blood Pb level groups and t - test were made. Results There was a significant difference in NABA between high and low blood Pb levels groups. With pregnant in second trimester blood Pb level of 0.32μmol/L as cutoff values. There was a very significant difference in NBNA and behavioral ability between high and low blood Pb level groups. Conclusion Lower level Pb exposure (0.32μmol/L) during pregnancy can have harm- ful effects on infants development and can also cause adverse effects on neonatal neuro - behavioral development.
