摘要
跨种族恋情是美国华人形象电影中最耀眼的类型。其中,白人男性与华人女性的爱情故事更是因为承载着性、种族、文化、政治等多重涵义而更引人注目。这类电影无一例外地一直在性奴模式、蝴蝶夫人模式与征服模式中自我重复,华人女性永远无法逃脱被消费、被抛弃与被征服的角色命运。靠着把华人女性下降为"奴",好莱坞把白人男性升华为"神"。利用白人男性征服华人女性的爱情包装,西方最终获得高出东方的种族身份、文化地位与政治优越感,也最终将殖民东方演变为顺利成章之事。
Among American films featuring Chinese characters, the genre that attracts the most attention is inter-racial romance, particularly that between white males and Chinese females, because of the complex messages it implies on sex, race, culture and politics. These films unfailingly follow the same three models--Sex slave, Madam Butterfly, and the Model of Conquest. In these models, Chinese females never escape the fate of being used, abandoned, and conquered. While degrading the Chinese female to a "slave", Hollywood elevates the white male to the status of God. By packaging the West-East relationship into a love story about the white male conquering the Chinese female, the West ultimately establishes its superiority over the East in racial identity, culture, and politics, and justifies its colonization of the East.
