明代抗倭监军赵大河评述——以赵用贤撰写的墓志铭为中心

Comment on Zhao Dahe,Supervisor of the Army in the Ming Dynasty Struggle Against Japan——According to the Epitaph Written by Zhao Yongxian

明万历时,吏部左侍郎赵用贤为嘉靖三十五年进士、义乌知县赵大河撰写墓志铭,透露了他们两人意气相投,性刚有才,但仕途多舛的共性。赵大河为抗倭名将戚继光的莫逆之交,协助戚招募义乌兵组训成抗倭主力戚家军,并任监军。他爱国爱民,刚毅清正,为人所敬仰,却为历史所湮没,幸赖赵用贤撰写的墓志铭得以留传后世。

During the Wanli Era of the Ming Dynasty, Zhao Yongxian, Left Vice Minister of Ministry of Official Personal Affairs, is a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in the 35th year of the Jiajing Era. Zhao Dahe, County magistrate of Yiwu, wrote an epitaph which indicated that he was congenial to and as upright as ZhaoYongxian, but both were not suitable in official career. Zhao Dahe was a sworn friend of Qi Jiguang, who was the hero in the struggle against Japan. He assisted Mr. Qi in recruiting and training Yiwu soldier group to Qi Jia-jun, the main force in the struggle against Japan. He was patriotic, stout-hearted, clear and upright. So was admired by people. Otherwise he passed into oblivion in history. It is fortunate for him that ZhaoYongxian wrote the epitaph to carry forward the story.
