The advances in the research and application of intelligent structures are overviewed. The main contents includc the following:(1)The advancement of the research on the structures in the last twenty years.(2)Four key issues of sensing,actuation,active control and integration of the structures.(3) The applications of the structures, especially to the field of aeronautical and aerospace engineering.
