Aiming at the whole consumption of resources and energy sources in Henan Province in 2006, the sustainable development of Henan Province was estimated with the method of ecological footprint analysis. The results show that the ecological deficit of Hainan Province in 2006 is 2.256 7 hm^2 ,with the current level of development and consumption, the development of Henan Province has exceeded the carrying capacity of ecological system. Aiming at this problem, some suggestions to realize the sustainable development were put forward in order to offer basis for Henan's regional development planning and policy-making.
