摘要
The annual national college entrance examination is one of the most important milestones for Chinese families. For students, enrollment in a good university can mean the beginning of a bright future; rural students are given the opportunity to obtain permanent residency in cities after college graduation; and top-performers are often recruited as public servants with the central government's ministerial organizations. However, failure in the exam can also cast a shadow over students' lives for years to come, and many students decide to try a second or even third time if their scores are not as good as expected.
