A 16bit high performance A/D converter has been realized using a bipolar IC and a CMOS chip. The internal structure and logic control in the converter are discussed in detail. A maximum conversion time of 17 μs and a clock frequency up to 1.4 MHz have achieved for the device. The A/D converter can also realize analogtodigital conversion for 16bit and below. When it is used as a 12bit A/D converter, the conversion time is 12μs.
