ON IMAGES TRANSLATION OF THE CHINESE POETRY INTO ENGLISH FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF RELEVANCE THEORY

阐述了汉诗文化意象的特点,并运用关联理论中的最佳关联原则,结合陶潜诗歌译例,讨论了文化意象翻译的认知成因,强调根据不同的认知语境采用不同的策略,实现对目的语读者的照顾。

The paper deals with the characteristics of the cultural images of the Chinese poetry and discusses the cognitive contributing factors of cultural images translation by using the principle of optimum relevance in relevance theory with the translation of Tao Qian＇ s poems as an example. It points out that different strategies are to be adopted in different language environments so as to cater to expectation of target-language readers.
