DesktopToGo:Mobile personal-computing based on user-level virtualization

摘要 在任意计算机上重现用户的个性化计算环境。基于应用层虚拟化技术,在高速移动存储设备上保存用户的配置信息。在运行时,通过系统调用包裹技术截获这些资源的访问,再定向到移动存储设备上,在不影响性能和可靠性的前提下重现用户的个人计算环境。给出了该系统的原型实现及性能测试。测试结果表明:应用层虚拟化技术运行的开销只占用系统开销的0.5%。 This paper presents a user-level virtualization method that reproduces the personal computing environment. The, solution separates and saves personal information (including personal documents/folders, and applications' customizations) into a portable high-speed storage device. At run-time, the portable applications on the device will run in a user-level virtualization environment where some of the resources (registry, files/directories, environment variables, etc. ) for accessing the APIs for this information are intercepted and redirected to the portable device as necessary. Thus, the mobile personal computing environment is implemented with nearly no effect on the dependability and performance of applications. Performance test results show that user-level virtualization technology spending accourted for only 0.5 % of system overhead.
