An investigation was carried out on a low carbon steel produced by compact strip production(CSP) process after cold-rolling and annealing by means of optical microscope, SEM and EDS analysis to study the mierostructure evolution during the processing. The inclusions in the steel was analyzed by SAXS. It is demonstrated that there are a little pearlite and inclusions in hot rolling slab, which exhibits no evident change during cold rolling and annealing. The final microstructure of the steel after the annealing consists of evenly distributed oval-shaped ferrite grains. The chemical analysis of phases shows that the size and amount of nanoscaled Fe3 C increase during the cold-rolling and the following annealing.
