This paper intends to analyze the tragic fate of Willy in Death of a Salesman from the perspective of the major existential ideas. As a man living in a difficult state, Willyls committing suicide is a personal tragedy, but it has universal significance： it proves that though modern life is meaningless and absurd, one still has the freedom of choice to incorporate meaning into his life and thus fulfills a life of commitment.
