"经济特区的功能定位"问题主要涉及特区应当承担什么样的历史使命和现实作用,从发展的视角来看,它必须随时代的要求以及特区建设的变化而拓展其本质内涵、实践价值、历史使命和发展取向。改革开放30年来,厦门经济特区在探索向市场经济转型的实践路径、探索走向对外开放的可行方式、探索走向共同富裕的发展道路及探索走向协调发展的有效手段等方面进行了大胆、有益的尝试,为全国特别是沿海开放地区的改革开放和现代化建设发挥应有的示范带动作用。

The problem about ＂functional position of a special economic zone＂ is mainly related to the issue as to what historical mission it should assume and the current role it should play. From a development perspective, it must extend its essential connotation, practical value, historical mission, and its development orientation, with the requirements of the times as well as its changes. Xiamen Special Economic Zone, over the past three decades since the reform and opening up, has made bold and valuable explorations in its practical transition to the market economy, its possible approaches to the outside world, its development road to the common prosperity, and its effective measures for coordinated development. And it has played a due exemplary and leading role for the whole country, especially for those coastal areas in their reform and opening up and modernization.
