On the Decorative Woodcarving on Gutian Traditional Architectures

古田传统民间建筑中的木雕装饰大多出自清朝,与中国其他地区保存下来的清代木雕一样,体现了清朝建筑装饰木雕艺术的成就。这些木雕无论从装饰的部位、装饰的题材以及雕刻的技法等方面都体现了清代建筑装饰木雕的工艺面貌。透过木雕本身的艺术美,我们可以了解到产生木雕的时代背景,了解木雕与古田当地的政治、经济、人文环境等方面的联系。

Most of the decorative woodcarvings on Gutian traditional architectures were made in the Qing Dynasty, which, together with the Qing Dynasty woodcarvings persevered in other regions in China, represent the artistic achievement of architectural decorative wocdearving in the Qing Dynasty. These wocdearvings display the artistic level and skills of the architectural decorative woodearving in the Qing Dynasty through their location in architectures, theme of the decoration and carving techniques. Through these woodcarvings, we can also have some knowledge about their background, and their connection with the local political, economic and social environment.
