A Study of the Mechanism for Determining Students' Eligibility for Bilingual Learning in China's Universities——Report on the Bilingual Course in Software Supply Engineering at USTC

摘要 本文在韩建侠和俞理明提出以CET成绩作为学生双语学习准入标准的基础上,从基础英语和专业英语两个维度进一步探究我国双语教学学生准入机制的构建问题。我们的软件工程双语课研究结果显示,通过CET4并熟练掌握一定专业词汇的学生可以更好地从双语教学中受益,达到提高英语水平和掌握学科知识的双赢目的。 In accordance with the CET score-based criterion of students' eligibility for bilingual learning as proposed by Han Jianxia and Yu liming, an investigation was conducted into the mechanism for determining students' eligibility for bilingual learning in China with a view to both English as a basic requirement and English as a major. Our study of the bilingual course in software engineering at USTC showed that students who had passed CET 4 and had mastered a relevant technical vocabulary benefited more from bilingual teaching which helped improve their English proficiency as well as their knowledge of the discipline involved.
