An Review of Oracle Bone Inscription Study by Professor Wang Yuzhe

王玉哲先生是著名的先秦史专家,他对甲骨学的研究成果也受人瞩目。在他的先秦史研究中,尤其是在对商代社会历史的研究中,非常注重利用甲骨文字材料,对甲骨文反映的殷商时代社会历史诸如方国地理和古代民族、商王名号、王室世系和王位继承制度、奴隶和"众"等社会群体的身份以及商代社会性质等问题,进行了全面综合的探索。对涉及到的甲骨学问题,诸如文字的考证、卜辞的释读、甲骨的分类、周原甲骨的族属和性质等问题,也都有自己独到的见解,形成了一家之言,在学术界产生了较大的影响。

Wang Yuzhe was a famous specialist in Pre - Qin Dynasty, whose study of oracle bone inscription called great attention in the community as well. Most of his studies of the history and society in Shang Dynasty are based on oracle bone inscriptions. He had explored Shang Dynasty in terms of history, geography, ancient clans, reigns, royal system and throne inheritance, slaves and their social status and the social property of Shang dynasty represented on oracle bones. He showed unique views on textual study of Chinese characters, interpretation of oracle in- scriptions, classification of oracle bones and the clan properties of oracle bones excavated from Zhouyuan relics.Wang had taken held to the effect in the field of oracle bone inscription study.
