是乡贤,更是民族英雄——以今论古识苍水

Understanding of Zhang Cangshui from a Historical Perspective

张公苍水,名煌言,浙江鄞县人。生活于明清鼎革更替大厄会之季,高扛纲常、正气之民族传统文化大旗,从事海上抗清复明斗争。自丙戍航海,甲辰就执,三度闽关,四入长江,两遭覆溺,首尾十九年。其志可与日月争光;其忠贞不屈,成仁就义的高尚人格精神,更可与宋末抗元的民族英雄文天祥相匹媲。他是历史上曾出现过这样的英雄人物的这方土地的骄傲,也是值得永远纪念和学习的乡贤。

Zhang Cangshui, whose name is Huangyan had his roots in Yinxian of Zhejiang Province and lived at the tum of Ming and Qing Dynasties. Zhang, holding high the great banner of virtues and integrity, fought the war to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and reinstate Ming Dynasty on the sea. Zhang began his marine career since Binshu, entered the navy in Jiachen, flied across Min Guan thrice, headed into Changjiang for four times, got drowned twice： the whole process lasted nineteen years. His will equalled the sun and the moon in glory; his high character offirmness and sacrifice parallelled Wen Tianxiang, the national hero who fought against Yuan army at the end of Song Dynasty. He is the pride of the land where he was born, as well as a county saint worthy to be permanently commemorated and learned from.
