Wu Rulun's Investigation in Japan and Its Impacts upon Modern Chinese Education

吴汝纶是我国近代教育改革的先驱者之一,尤其是他的日本教育考察对中国近代教育改革与发展产生了重大影响:对清末新学制的建立产生了直接影响;主张"兼包新旧",对我国近代教育观念的更新具有积极意义;主动延聘外国教习,对近代中国师范教育改革做出了重要贡献。

Wu Rulun is one of the pioneers in ChineSe modern educational reform. Especially, his educational investigation in Japan yielded a great impact on the reform and development of Chinese modern education, and direct influence on the New School System of the late Qing Dynasty. His ideology of containing both the new and the old had the positive meaning to renew Chinese modern educational eoncepts. His deed of inviting foreign teachers had made a brilliant contribution to Chinese normal education.
