The development of internet and its application have given rise to new opportunities and challenges in college English teaching. With the latest results in information technology as a solid foundation for the learning setting required by the structuralism, it is possible that the learning setting under structuralism be incorporated into college English teaching. College English teaching by means of internet constitute a great challenge against the traditional teaching methods and the role teachers play in the traditional teaching methods. Therefore, teachers＇ role must be redefined so that the reform in college English teaching could be carried out with success.
