铁路于晚清时期出现在中国,但其在中国的发展历程却是十分艰难的。来自中国社会各方面守旧因素的阻碍,使得当时的中国错过了发展铁路事业、缩小与西方列强之间差距的时机,导致了中国的铁路建设在这一时期没有得到足够的发展。

Railway appeared in China in the late period of the Qing Dynasty. But it went through a lot of hardship in its development. Various conservative and backward factors from the society of China made her miss the good opportunity of developing railways and reducing the gap between the western great powers and China and hindered the development of Chinese railway construction.
