Perspective of a Chinese Scholar:An Analysis of Biological Commentary on Premchand

刘安武先生的《普列姆昌德评传》是中国印度文学研究的重要成果。作者为撰著作了长期的学术积累,以宏阔的学术视野,在印度甚至整个东方文化和文学传统的大背景中分析理解普列姆昌德创作的内涵,在纵横比较中把握普列姆昌德及其创作的独特价值。同时又以自身的民族文化身份和立场,进行中、印文化的对话,体现出中国学者的主体眼光。

Liu Anwu＇s Biological Commentary on Premchand marks a major achievement accomplished by Chinese scholars on the research of Indian literature. It is the result of the author＇s long-term scholastic preparation and accumulation. The author places Premchand in the big context of India, even the whole Oriental cultural and literary tradition to interpret the content of his literary creation and the peculiar value of his work. And this interpretation is Chinese, reflecting the judegement of a Chinese scholar who is mindful of his own cultural identity and position in the negotiation of the two cultures.
