美国的州政府行政体制改革兴起于20世纪初。在随后近百年的时间中,各州的改革陆续进行。各州改革的内容基本相同,只是在改革的时间和力度上略有差异。这些改革可归纳为两点:一是整合部门与职能,二是提高州长的影响力。虽然改革者们最初的目标始终没有完全达到,但改革后的州政府还是比以前更有效率,能承担起更多的责任,美国各州也因此得以重塑自己在联邦体制中的地位。

Reforms of American state government administration started at the beginning of the 20th century.In the following 100 years,American states implemented reforms gradually and successively. Although in different time and in different level,they reformed similarly.Their reformation can be classified into two categories：reorganizing state executive branches and enhancing governor＇s influences.Reformers＇ goals never fully achieved,but ,after all,state governments became more efficient after reformation,which made it possible for them to reestablish their position in American federalism.
