Characteristics of Restorer Line Wanhui 88 and Its Application

[目的]研究万恢88的品种特征和生产中的配组应用。[方法]对万恢88的米质和农艺性状进行测定，并进行抗逆性鉴定。采用共同测验法，用不育系（测验种）与恢复系（被测种）配组测交，对各测交组合进行小区比较试验，测定万恢88的配合力和恢复性，同时对万恢88配组的组合进行区试和生产试验。[结果]水稻恢复系万恢88具有配合力高、综合性状好、优势明显、恢复性较好、米质优、抗逆性好等特点。在1998—2006年间，利用万恢88配组的组合通过重庆市农作物品种审定委员会审定的有冈优88、K优88、万香优l号、万优6号、陵优1号和万优9号6个组合。[结论]万恢88在西南地区可作为主要恢复系利用，同时也可作为优质材料被转育利用。

[Objective] The purpose was to study the variety characteristics of Wanhui 88 and its combination applications in production. [ Method] The grain quality and agronomic traits of Wanhui 88 were determined, and its stress resistance was identified. Using the common test method, male sterile lines （test varieties） and restorer lines （tested varieties） were combined to make for test cross and the plot comparative tests of each testcross combination were carried out to determine the combining ability and the restoring ability of Wanhui 88, while regional test and production test of combination with Wanhui 88 were carried out. [ Result] The restorer line Wanhui 88 had characteristics of high combining ability, good comprehensive characters, distinct heterosis, better restoring ability, good rice quality and good stress resistance etc. 6 new hybrid rice combinations made by using Wanhui 88, including Gangyou 88, K You 88, Wanxiangyou 1, Wanyou 6, Lingyou 1 and Wanyou 9 were approved by the Chongqing Committee of Crop Variety Examination and Approbation from 1998 to 2006. [ Conclusion] Wanhui 88 not only could be used as main restorer line in southwest region but also could be used as high quality materials for transferring breeding.
