After Jewish American literature completed its movement from the margin to the center, Jewish American writers begin to pay more attention to the development of Israel and the political conflicts in the Middle East which have kept influencing the Jewish people even in other countries. Philip Roth's narration in The Operation of Shylock records his own experience in Middle East conflicts, externalizing the inner voice of Jewish American intellectuals, and suggesting the possibility of change in identity. His parody of Shakespeare subverts the stereotypical image of Jewish people.
