A Passage to India, masterpiece of the distinguished English writer E. M. Forster, is generally regurded as an anti-colonial novel. Nevertheless, the colonial discourse and colonialism in the novel can hardly be neglected even with the wide sympathy for its anti--colonial significance. This article attempts to reveal the colonial tendency of the novel, by discussing Forster's stand in the background of Euro-centrism, by interpreting scenery description, character portrayal as well as plot arrangement of the novel.
