习语是经过长期使用而提炼出来的,是语言和文化的重要组成部分。习语与地理环境、传统习俗、宗教信仰、历史典故有关,真实地反映人们的生活。每个国家都有自己的文化,不同的文化产生的习语不同,这就导致了英汉习语在意思上的差异。针对英语和汉语之间的差异,通过比较和对比的方法加以阐述说明并介绍一些翻译方法。提高语言学习者的跨文化交际意识,以便准确地理解与运用来自不同文化背景的习语。

Idioms are refined by being used for a long time and are the important part in the language and culture. Idioms can really reflect people＇s life related on the geographical environment, traditional custom, religious belief and historical literary reference. Each country has own culture. Cultural Difference produces different idioms; therefore, there are big difference in meaning between English and Chinese. The article introduces some methods of translation by contrasting and comparing with differences between English and Chinese to improve learners＇ Trans-Culture communicating ability and to understand accurately and use idioms in different back-ground.
